About Perfectly Hygge

Hygge is a Danish word meaning cozy comfort. It is also an attitude towards life; an appreciation for enjoying the little things in life such as food, drink, conversation or simply being surrounded by loved ones while sharing experiences over good company and delicious treats. When I write for Perfectly Hygge, my goal is to share how to bring hygge into your own life and home whether you live in a small apartment or large mansion!

Why Did I Start This Blog?

Because life is often filled with chaos, but I don’t think that means we need to let that chaos win. There’s always room for calm, order, and beauty in our lives, even if it means getting out the glue gun (or sewing machine) and doing some DIY projects around the house.

I’m all about finding ways to simplify my life so that I can focus on what matters most. And when I do find time to relax, I want those moments to be restful and peaceful—and hopefully beautiful too.

There’s also a need to focus on environmentalism and living in a low-consumption way. I love the idea of making do with less stuff and using resources more efficiently. After all, this planet doesn’t belong to us. It belongs to future generations. So I hope you’ll join me as we strive to use fewer plastic straws, paper towels, and other single-use products—and try to reduce consumerism whenever possible.

About Me

My name is Jessica. I started this blog as a 35 year old mother and wife. I have two children, a son and a daughter. My husband works as a firefighter/paramedic. We are originally from Long Island, NY. I’ve been married for almost 17 years now. We met at a bar in New York City and were engaged three months later.

When I have time to myself, I love to read about history and science. Sometimes I knit, sometimes I sew. I enjoy hosting parties and playing board games. But mostly, I like spending quality time with family and friends.

I am passionate about crafting and creating unique spaces in which people feel comfortable and at home.

I believe in creating intentional environments in one’s home where there is warmth, coziness, balance, harmony, and peacefulness.

I created this space for readers interested in simple decorating ideas, organizing tips, gardening, and crafts. Read my posts where I provide inspiration for simplifying your life. I also write about spirituality, including journaling tips, positivity quotes, and meditation. For full disclosure, I am a pagan and a witch, and so my spiritual posts will be skewed towards new age topics. My aim is to make them inoffensive and useful for people of any faith.

I hope you find what I share here interesting and helpful. Thanks for visiting and reading!
